call for opinions, november 17: let me know your opinions on how to make the latest version of heart by hoof. available for web players.
here, in the mating meadows, everyone is here for one thing: deckbuilding!
sex, as we know, is all about playing your cards right so that you and your partner form an intimate connection... that lets you add a new card to your deck!
will you be able to put together a snappy and efficient deck, or will you be doomed to cum first every time? either way, at least you get to have lots of sex!

controls:
- left mouse button to interact with cards.
- right mouse or middle mouse button to rotate the 3D camera.
- p or escape to pause.
- shift+enter or f11 to toggle fullscreen.
note on web build: your mileage may vary. it is decently playable for me in chrome. feel free to let me know how playable it is. i think i would recommend downloading though.

note: i don't think i'll push a new nightly build this week. i have not made a whole lot of progress on the game specifically (just a few new art assets)--i have mostly been focusing on just random other drawings for fun/practice, and on preparing a new (!) game page for the nightly version. itch support got back to me and reindexed this game page, so it should be safe for me to post a new one with the nightly build uploaded (so as not to break anybody's saves here).
for that page, i've been working on making it nice and pretty, but i also potentially want to consider setting up some sort of patreon or something before launching it just to make the most of the early spike in visibility. (by the same token, i would like the game to be in as good of a state as possible before launching it. but, i do think it will probably still be incomplete).
hope to have something good out next week.
(Audio Issue!) – I’ve played both the browser version and the downloadable Windows build and ran into a small sound problem. The music is a bit too loud for me (I really enjoy the ambient + SFX), but when I try to lower just the music using the sliders, it seems to turn down all audio in the game instead of only the music. Every slider I tested appears to affect the overall volume rather than its specific category.
That aside, this is a really fun game! I love the visuals and the attention to detail on the cards in the deck. It’s quick to pick up, satisfying to play, and just genuinely enjoyable. Amazing work – I’m excited to see what you do with it next! 🙂
aw, thank you for the compliments! i'll take a look into the audio issues and if i can replicate them will try to have them patched by the next version.

You should add an adjustable camera
do you mean something beyond zooming in/out? zooming is possible in the "nightly" version by scrolling the mouse wheel. (and, in case you missed it, the game has always had orbiting the camera by clicking the middle-mouse-button).
the nightly version is currently only available to download but i believe i will put it in the browser within the next few weeks on a separate itch page.
(or, if you mean on android/mobile, i do hope to add camera controls eventually but have not yet).

Itchio said this game says it was updated today in my notifications, but all the download files are from March. does anyone know what the update was? I am really interested in finding out if the game got updated, and where I can download the update.
i am working on pushing a lil update, with some new art and balance tweaks, etc.
this includes some build infrastructure on my end that will let the game check for updates automatically, so i was testing some new uploads on the itch page that i've hidden for now (and whether the game can correctly fetch their version).
i am also working on a long write up of the changes that i would like to release alongside the new downloads for some context, but I may just release them by themselves if that seems more appropriate / timely. (the gist is that this new version will be very "in-dev" in the sense that it is like, partially new art that is very stylistically distinct from the old art, so the game looks arguably more jank than it does right now).
i wasn't sure if itch was going to notify anyone of the new versions... knowing that it has, i may try to speed up my timeline a bit. :)

Can I ask what the difference between the different new downloads are? None of them say which is Windows, Linux, and Mac, and I do not know which I should download, because they are all radically different file sizes. I play on a computer using Windows. I want to download the right nightly version for me.
ah, I see. i'll have to tweak the file names. they do each have an icon representing the relevant operating system but besides that there is no indication.
the .exe file is the one for windows.
edit: i've changed all the names so they have their platform in them.
For some reason you files were flagged by windows for being malicious, and for some reason Itchio also has them flagged for suspiscious creator behavior, but I downloaded the windows.exe after having to repeatedly click on keep because my browser literally repeatedly asked me to confirm if I was sure I could trust the file, the creator, and the safety of it. you might want to make an announcement on that. I have never seen this from any other NSFW game, except for the most obscure taboo kink games as well as people using the most obscure rare game engines and programming tools, since Windows seems to be very hostile to those things being downloaded, and you're the only NSFW creator ever flagged by Itchio for suspiscious behavior I've encountered, and most of my games on Itchio I download and buy are porn and kink games, though every NSFW creator I've encountered on Itchio is flagged by Microsoft's Windows. You should leave an announcement about this gross misunderstanding and mistake by Itchio, and as well as that Microsoft's Windows is excessively anti-kink and anti-Indie Game dev and anti-Indie programmer applications and flags all such shit in their browsers and on Windows Defender.
that's bizarre! for me in both chrome (logged out), and firefox (logged in to a different itch account), i was able to download the file without any warnings. if you happen to have a screenshot of the itch warning i would be interested in what it looks like.
i also get the normal "Windows protected your PC" popup with either download, i'm not sure if that's what you mean by windows flagging it as malicious. i usually expect this popup with any unknown software, and thankfully it's pretty easy to bypass (just two clicks).
ultimately i guess i need to figure out how i want to make this build available on web. some users will not trust the download even if they are able to access it, and some users straight-up cannot download software.
This game is quite adorable and sex positive. The deck building game is simple, but requires some thought and planning for a horny game about horse sex. I liked how both players' color schemes are represented on the cards too!
Make Android one
if you're ok with an "in-flux" version an android download is now available.
very fun. not too difficult to get infinite combos with how easy it is to draw cards. Accellerate is hilariously OP if you diligently thin your deck.
i agree. i am considering nerfing accelerate in particular if i make any balance changes, the fact that it can be replayed essentially for free makes it very strong. glad you had fun though!

Works well. I'd consider adding additional customization options for horsey, and maybe for mates as well.
Very fun! I like the mechanics and the thought put into this. Something that I would say could be improved upon is maybe adding a zoom feature or a way to change the camera’s center position. I really like this though!
